After so many years of trying, my work is at last hanging in the National Portrait Gallery as part of the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize. I could weep. This is a picture of me (thanks Brian Whar) at the Private View last week, feeling pretty happy. And relieved actually - I was beginning to seriously question how I could call myself a portrait photographer yet not get amongst the annual best 60 portraits once again - then you get the email and everything is ok. The experience has been absolutely top notch as well, the print has a great position in the show, it was used on the private and press viewing invite, is a postcard for sale in the shop and the gallery is using it in their mail outs, as well as this gem in the Telegraph Arts section which was the icing on the cake (read to the last paragraph if you have nothing at all to do just now). Huge thanks to Brian Whar, Richard Chan printers, Gilbert and George, and Hope and Sally Anne for coming down. You're ace and I love you.
