Proper madness at EMAs in Frankfurt. Am the official MTV snapper for the brand team so I shoot red carpet, the show, the sponsor activity, huge afterparty, all sorts. It's quite hectic. But where else would I be that weekend? The Caribbean maybe but that's it.
A rocking 3 days in Belfast. Thousands of shots and even more laughs. Thanks MTV. Tx
The Fly's Album of the Year issue is out and The Antlers win. How refreshing is that? I've had a great year with the best, most heartfelt, least ego-driven title I've ever worked with. I love them.
Back to the MTV EMA this weekend, I'm delighted to say. Belfast plays host and my shots are being used in the wonderfully glossy magazine published for the event - remember all the trannies from a few weeks ago? They look ace in print and I'm well chuffed. Will get some scans and post them, honest. Well chuffed.
Two serious young men possibly feeling the pressure of expectation with forthcoming examinations and probably not helped by us lot bowling up to see them and shoot a portrait at their school. I had to give a speech too, smashed it (doubtful).
They didn't mind at all when I asked, so here's to The Oldhams!
I learnt a lot from Martin. His ability to inform, motivate, energise, promote the means of good health and many further positive attributes did in no way compromise his sense of fun and willingness to laugh. I made the mistake of telling him I like dancing (am a rubbish dancer but it's part of my schtick) and I had to then pull out my best funk moves in front of all of the ladies above to prove it. A nice encounter anyway, a memorable highlight in many from Kenya.
This mum to be had fallen underweight during her pregnancy so Riders' team were given the task of not only a delivering welfare pack to her very rural home (containing mosquito net, water container and purifying kit, condoms, porridge packs and more) but also spending the time to explain the importance of everything and making up a big mix of the porridge on the fire to comence helping her gain weight and strength. It was incredibly impressive to see the dedication and sense of duty in the rider. I was astounded by it, truly.
We made it to Kisumu for Riders. Day 1 found us at the workshop, shooting the wonderful team in the front office and the technicians in the workshop. Danfus here is the first post for no better reason than I love this shot of a man who dedicates his work to keeping Riders' fleet on the road.
Just back from NY and by contrast, me and Tom Andrew are off to Kenya to shoot for Riders for Health once more. I find leaving home very hard these days, but when Riders call - I must answer! We've a full and fantastical range of duties to perform, a mighty shot list of stories and action shots and portraits to capture so we'll be working hard, but I'll try and blog as we go so you can see what we're up to. My web stats tell me a fair few folk out there are monitoring my progress so here's hoping you'll enjoy what you see over the forthcoming week. Cheers everyone. T
Am in NY for a few days with The Fly, so I thought I'd rub it in with a rather unimaginative post of our cabbie from Burkina Faso. I have this auto-response mildly autistic music thing that occurs sometimes in a variety of situations and here's the theme that plays in my mind whenever I'm in a cab here or sometimes even when I see one, which can be very repetitive and annoying.
Brainer has this wonderfully curated content that features loads of the stuff I love. Always a fan of an open brief, I swanned down to Ninja Tune to shoot Kid Koala and this furball of joy awaited me. Have a peep at this and a rummage around Brainer, if you're busy procrastinating like myself right now. Maybe do it listening to an old tune like this. Outstanding.
