Am in NY for a few days with The Fly, so I thought I'd rub it in with a rather unimaginative post of our cabbie from Burkina Faso. I have this auto-response mildly autistic music thing that occurs sometimes in a variety of situations and here's the theme that plays in my mind whenever I'm in a cab here or sometimes even when I see one, which can be very repetitive and annoying.
Kid Koala - Brainer Magazine - Up!
Brainer has this wonderfully curated content that features loads of the stuff I love. Always a fan of an open brief, I swanned down to Ninja Tune to shoot Kid Koala and this furball of joy awaited me. Have a peep at this and a rummage around Brainer, if you're busy procrastinating like myself right now. Maybe do it listening to an old tune like this. Outstanding.
RB for Virgin Unite
New book en route in connection with the good folk at Virgin Unite. More info and availabilityhere.
October Fly is OUT
Bloody lovely it is, but I would say that. Have a digital flick thru here.
War Paint shoot from way back when
Colourscape still rules
Trippy.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for Nike
The main pressure in my job I think is not getting the shot, but getting the shot in the time allowed. Everything is always such a rush. I'm always being hurried to wrap up. Imagine my delight when the power tripped in the sockets we were using and scuppered 90 seconds of my 4 minutes in Niketown. I did however have the remarkable fortune to be assisted by Vicky Dawe on this, who scrambled into action and had another battery powered Elinchrom Ranger pack fired up and hand held in record time. She's brilliant, as was the rising star at Arsenal, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who nailed everything we wanted (and was cool about our momentary anguish).
Ellie Goulding in Niketown
She sang really bloody well, looked great and runs a lot apparently, hence the show in Niketown. Slice were in charge of production and nailed it wonderfully. Nice event.
Daniel Lismore for MTV EMAs
The most incredible look and visually stunning tranny of the day, I thought anyway. Tranny doesn't seem quite descriptive enough really but it's the understood terminology and anyway, Daniel Lismore shazammed me with his combination of McQueen, vintage, make up, trinkets and complete conviction producing an image that seemed to come from the 17th century classics from the National Portrait Gallery.
Johanna Londinium for MTV
Johanna confused the studio assistant a tad. Someone always asks apparently.
The Phenomenal Pandemonia
For MTV EMAs. More info here about this stunning vision on 21st century artistry.
Stars of the After Party, for MTV EMAs
Jon Benet Blonde portrait for MTV. Such fantastic models and a great opportunity for a memorable shoot (and great laugh) at Shoreditch Studios with the stars of the after show party at the MTV European Music Awards.
Johnny Vegas hates The Bays
Unseen shot from the October issue of Mojo, for whom me and Tom Andrew went to Steve Winwood's Cotswolds-based Winlove studios to shoot PiL recording their new long player. There's nothing about that sentence I didn't love.
PiL for Mojo
Astonishing new record, a mighty talent and the fastest shoot yet.
Ryan Adams for The Fly
With Ireland's biggest FB following, Faye's fashion blog is well worth a peep. Awesome model, loads of winner shots in no time at all.
Faye Dinsmore for MTV
Veronica Falls
1x Jagger, 2x Delevigne make photobooth party.
Impossibly unachievable levels of glamour at Kate's Rimmel 10 year bash
Kid Koala has illustrated/etched a new book of his character Space Cadet. I saw it and loved it immediately, all the more after my shoot with him as he's the greatest subject any snapper could ever wish for. More shots soon on Brainer Magazine. Ninja Tune supporting this wizardry of course, their supremely good taste displayed once more.
Kid Koala for Brainer Magazine
Really wanted to bring the Bombay Bicycle Club cover to life so we headed down to Newquay for Boardmasters and first shot the portraits on the cliffs then waited for their set. Following not inconsiderable conversations with their PR in London, negotiations with on site press and security and the band's tour management, I got my way and had the band pile into the crowd at the end of their last tune. I clambered up on speakers, Tom B hoisted the light and we were on. Getting their attention was hard but Jack was properly behind it and got well involved which I think makes the shot. More Fly business here. BBC here.
