Really nice redesign. And my big face. Click here and procrastinate.
4x Gruff. That's a good day for anyone.
Cuppa?
Not that he's ever on guard especially, but my best shots are always the less obvious, the 'overs'. Usually caught when I'm testing the lights, as with Heathers below. Gruff is out again and has a new long player. He's a lovely chap with the warmest of vibes. His site is here. Good luck Gruff and thank you.
Gruff Rhys. Off guard.
Heathers did a courtyard session for The Fly today. I was set up waiting for Gruff and was startled at their honestly remarkable sound. Beautiful, like only incredibly talented twins could make. Give them a listen, it can't hurt after all.
Heathers. Absolutely remarkable.
Beautiful site from Chris Noble, loads of killer content. Click.
Levelmag.com features Be Here Now
Sunderland looked very lovely and these chaps are bloody good fun to be with. They sound cool too.
Frankie and The Heartstrings
In Sunderland. With a Photek Softlighter. It's so the one.
Frankie and The Heartstrings on the beach in January
Cracked out the fruity (well, veggie) backdrop at last! Pitched perfectly too. They got very involved and were great fun. Check out their heaviness here.
This is Yuck!
Stunning doesn't do Clare justice. Greatness for 2011 I hope. Her space here.
Clare Maguire for The Fly's January Issue
Always thinking outside of the boudaries. It makes me ache sometimes.
The Fly January is amongst us. Looking chipper too.
And a killer line up of artists for 2011. Stomp on this link now for my folio of must-hear must-see Ones To Watch. Interviews and all sorts at the-fly.co.uk.
Anna Calvi for January issue of The Fly
A fantastic assignment (thanks Amy) to shoot portraits of jump jockeys at Newbury. Such a fascinating day, shooting inside the weighing room and the winners enclosure. The best lighting and laughter once again from Tom Andrew.
Sam Thomas at Newbury Races
Sneaky peek at our War Child Be Here Now shoot with Faithless. 5 frames before their two hour set, and about the same after. The final piece will look so good! More info here:http://www.beherenowphoto.com/
Faithless for Be Here Now
A sold out Brixton, every crowd member belting out every single word. Roaring, you could say. Tim Booth looked out on the room like he loved them to a man. Shooting them Before and After, James had the most glorious happy vibe and deservedly so.
Tim + James
We've had a great year. Read their fruity metaphors and florrid diction at the-fly.co.uk
Thank you Niall, Hat and JJ at The Fly
Smashed it. Where this features in their career arc I've no idea as I was listening to d+b when they were peaking but tonight they owned a huge venue, without doubt.
Suede at O2
I appreciate that this shot might not blow your socks off but with my job the greatest highlight is always the people you can meet. I've shot Robyn a few times before and soon he's touring with his friend Joe Boyd. Click on this link and marvel at Joe's work. Unfathomable how 'on' his career has been, from Pink Floyd to Nick Drake and the soundtrack to Deliverance. An honour to spend an afternoon with them both and well worth further investigation.
Joe Boyd and Robyn Hitchcock
It's unusual to hear a crowd chanting for the BBC.
Bombay Bicycle Club at The Troxy.
If Janelle isn't huge next year, I'm chucking my Canons in the canal.
Janelle Monae. Sorry. That's it.
Sometimes it's hard to imagine that Black Eyed Peas are on the same planet as this.
